Chocolate Avocado Mousse

This Chocolate Avocado Mousse is a no cook recipe.

Combination of Avocado, Cocoa and Coconut milk makes this  Chocolate Avocado Mousse a healthy vegan and gluten free mousse which you can indulge in without guilt.

Avocados, also known as butter fruit, are packed with nutrients including fiber and contain nearly 20 vitamins and minerals. They do contain fat, but it’s primarily the healthy type of monounsaturated fatty acids (MUFA), an unsaturated fat known to lower cholesterol.

Many of us avoid chocolate because we feel it is unhealthy. Its only because of addition of sugar, etc, chocolate products are unhealthy. But Cocoa, on its own, is quite nutritious and provides numerous health benefits. It contains approximately 43.6 mg of flavonoids, a powerful group of antioxidants, per gram.  However most commercial cocoa powders have the antioxidant-containing flavonoids removed because they taste bitter. Hence, in order to obtain the health boosting benefits, better to buy raw cocoa powder, which is a minimally processed cocoa powder.

Ingredients:

  • 1 avocado (ripe)
  • ¼ cup unsweetened cocoa powder
  • 3 tablespoon date syrup*
  • ½ tsp vanilla essence
  • ¼ tsp salt
  • ½ cup coconut milk

*Replace date syrup with jaggery syrup / agave netar / honey (if you are a non vegan)

  1. Remove the pulp of avocado from the skin.
  2. Blend with all other ingredients till smooth
  3. Pour in glasses and chill.
  4. Garnish with Raw Cacao nibs and strawberries / any other fruit of your choice.

Welcome to my blog

February 10th is celebrated as World Pulses Day. I am an avid fan of whole pulses / lentils. When I took a review of my posts so far, I realised I have as of today posted 22 recipes using whole pulses & legumes. I decided to compile all those recipes and make an eBook that you can download from my site.
