Nut Milk

Nut Milk

Almond Milk / Groundnut milk

Soak 1 cup Nuts with a tsp sea salt* in water for 6 to 8 hrs.

Drain, rinse in fresh water few times.

Almond Milk:
Peel & grind to a fine paste adding 3 cups drinking water slowly. Extract milk using nut milk bag / muslin cloth / fine strainer. Don’t throw away the residue. Can be used to make delicious brownies which I’ll share in a post soon.

Groundnut Milk:
No need to peel. Follow the same procedure. Groundnut residues have very strong smell of raw groundnuts. Some of it can be added in millet Atta while making Rotis. Else they are good compost materials.

*Soaking nuts adding a tsp of sea salt is advisable for breaking down phytic acid by enzymes and other helpful organisms.

Welcome to my blog

February 10th is celebrated as World Pulses Day. I am an avid fan of whole pulses / lentils. When I took a review of my posts so far, I realised I have as of today posted 22 recipes using whole pulses & legumes. I decided to compile all those recipes and make an eBook that you can download from my site.
