Flaxseeds Ladoo / Healthy Indian Sweet

As you are all aware, this site, stays away from white sugar. I firmly believe that sweets can be made with jaggery instead of sugar, and nuts instead of dairy making it healthier. The result is this Flaxseeds ladoo.

Firstly, talking about Ladoos, the most popular festival of India, Diwali, is just around the corner. Besides, Ladoos are the most popular Indian Sweets. Just as exciting part of any Hindu festival is delicious sweets and food, Diwali is no exception. Pleasing aromas waft from all kitchens. Its raining sweets everywhere.  In fact Diwali is the time when number of sweets are prepared by all. Since its an occasion of celebration, one tends to be tempted to eat these sweets knowing that they are unhealthy.

Next, talking about Flax Seeds, of late they have have gained entry in mainstream markets as wonder seeds. Their health benefits are numerous. The story goes that in the 8th century, King Charlemagne believed so strongly in the health benefits of flaxseed that he passed laws requiring his subjects to consume it. ? Although the health benefits of flax seeds are still being debated, however, it is still recommended by dietitians.

Along with Flaxseeds, this Ladoo has the goodness of cashew, walnuts and almonds. I have added some figs and jaggery for sweetness and also as binding agents. The ginger powder adds to mild spiciness. This Flaxseeds ladoo is easy to make, delicious and healthy sweet that can light up your day.

Welcome to my blog

February 10th is celebrated as World Pulses Day. I am an avid fan of whole pulses / lentils. When I took a review of my posts so far, I realised I have as of today posted 22 recipes using whole pulses & legumes. I decided to compile all those recipes and make an eBook that you can download from my site.
